Sarasota Armed Robbery Under Investigation

An armed man held up a Sarasota Walgreens Wednesday night, demanding prescription pills.

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Wednesday night armed robbery at a Walgreens on Bee Ridge Road.

According to the agency, a man walked into the 5800 Bee Ridge Road just after 11:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and demanded narcotics from employees. The man told employees he had a gun, but it was not displayed.

Deputies say they are looking for a white male who stands about 5-foot-10. He is described as having a skinny build and was last seen wearing a green beanie, brown leather jacket and unknown colored pants. He was carrying a gray backpack with black straps, the sheriff’s office wrote in an email to media.

No injuries were reported.
