Sarasota Bank Robbery Under Investigation

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bank robbery that occurred Friday night at a Chase bank on Fruitville Road.

According to the agency, a man entered the 5341 Fruitville Road bank around 5:55 p.m. Feb. 24 and demanded money. The man indicated he had a weapon, an email from the agency said.

The robber is described as a black male who stands about 5-foot-8. He is believed to be in his mid-50s. Deputies say he was last seen wearing a long-sleeve red jacket, blue jeans and a dark hat. The man took off after the robbery on foot in a westerly direction.
