Sarasota County Fugitive Captured Near Daytona

SARASOTA, FL -- A Sarasota County fugitive has been taken into custody near Daytona Beach, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

William Klein was being held at Volusia County Jail on Wednesday after being taken into custody by Daytona Beach Shores police following an incident in which Klein allegedly rammed several cars in a parking lot, the sheriff's office said.

He was charged with resisting arrest with violence, grand theft, armed robbery and a number of other offenses.

The 45-year-old Klein was featured less than a week ago by the Sarasota Sheriff's Office on Fugitive Friday, in which the agency asks for help in locating fugitives.

"Our Fugitive Apprehension Unit working in conjunction with the U.S. Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force learned that Klein fled across the state using a different name," said the sheriff's office.

Klein was attempting to get away from police when he was taken into custody, the sheriff's office said.
