Sarasota Drug Bust Leads To 1 Arrest: Sheriff

SARASOTA, FL — Detectives alerted to a potential drug dealer in Sarasota arrested a suspect Tuesday on a possession of cocaine charge, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Jose C. Arellano Alverado, 29, was arrested after a search warrant was issued at his McIntosh Road home as part of a narcotics investigation.

The Special Investigations Section, with the assistance of SWAT, executed the search of the home, where detectives found several grams of cocaine, the sheriff’s office said.

Upon Alverado’s arrest, investigators learned he was an undocumented immigrant, the agency said. The sheriff’s office confirmed this by contacting Homeland Security Investigations.

HSI is in the process of placing an immigration hold on Alverado with the intent to begin deportation proceedings.
