Sarasota Man Captured in Mexico Awaits Extradition to Florida
William Weimar is currently being held in the Harris County Sheriff's Office in Houston, TX.

Last weekend, William Weimar was arrested in Cancun, Mexico on charges of capital sexual battery from a warrant issued January 24.
Authorities transported Weimar to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in Houston, Texas. The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is now waiting for Weimar to be extradited to Sarasota, a process which could take a few days.
Weimar, whose residence is listed at a boat slip at Marina Jack, was wanted on charges that he sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl in August, 2010. The police report said the incident happened when Weimar was watching the child while the child's mother took someone to the airport.

According to the report, police questioned Weimar on his boat and even advised him to get an attorney after questioning him about the incident.
This is not the first time Weimar, who moved from Alaska to Florida in January 2010, has been arrested.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, Weimar pleaded guilty in a 2008 corruption case. The paper reported he plead guilty to funneling $20,000 to an elected official who he thought would build a private prison.
In November 2008, Weimar was sentenced to six months in jail, the Daily News reported.
A former employee of Weimar's, Philip Munger, told Sarasota Patch, "nothing I saw of him indicated he might [do something like that]. Munger, who worked with Weimar at AllVest Inc, said Weimar was a hard person to get along with, ws a man who didn't smoke, rarely drank but was just focused on "building his empire."
The two, Muner said, worked closely together on bid proposals at AllVest, where the worked with halfway houses.
