Sarasota Man Seriously Injured In Golf Cart Crash
A 40-year-old Sarasota man was hospitalized with serious injuries following a Tuesday night crash on Siesta Key.

SARASOTA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Tuesday night vehicle-versus-golf cart collision that sent a 40-year-old Sarasota man to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to the patrol, Jacob Jankowski pulled his golf cart over on the bicycle lane on westbound Beach Road around 7:50 p.m. Aug. 22. Jankowski stopped the cart, got out and walked to the rear seat of the vehicle, a highway patrol report said.

At that time, a Kia Soul driven by William James Harper, 71, of Venice was heading west on Beach Road. Troopers say Harper’s Kia entered the bike lane and hit Jankowski’s golf cart. The cart then slammed into Jankowski.
Troopers say Jankowski was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Harper was also taken to the hospital with injuries that are described as minor.

The crash remains under investigation with charges pending the outcome. It is unclear at this time if alcohol played a role in the crash, the patrol’s report noted.
