SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota woman found guilty in September on four felony counts related to a 2015 attack on her 6-year-old daughter will serve 40 years behind bars.
Ashley Parker, 31, was sentenced to 40 years for attempted murder and 40 years for aggravated child abuse on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The sentences will be served concurrently, according to information released by the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. Parker was found guilty on four felony charges back on Sept. 23. Those charges are attempted first degree murder with a deadly weapon, two counts of aggravated child abuse and resisting arrest with violence.
Parker was arrested following a June 26, 2015, incident in the 2100 block of Leon Avenue. According to Sarasota Police, officers were called out to help EMTs after a 6-year-old girl had been stabbed and held under water.
