Sarasota's 5 Things To Know: Joyful Noise Festival Seeks Bands
Submit a YouTube video of your musical performance for a chance at a recording session and to be featured at the Joyful Noise Music Festival.

1. A new musical festival called Joyful Noise Musical Festival is looking for singers, musicians and bands to submit YouTube videos to be entered in a contest to be featured at the festival, which is set to run from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 2 on Lemon Avenue between Main and First streets. Admission to the festival is free.
Each week in May a semi-finalist will be chosen. The winner also receives time with a producer, talent agent, photography shoot, studio time and a recording session. Each entry costs $10. The festival is presented by non-profit

3. The City of Sarasota is looking for veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom to be the first civilian unit in the annual Memorial Day parade, scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 28.
Parade organizers would like to pay special tribute this year to the heroic men and women who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. 4. Earlier we had shared how and how they need help to pay for that trip. Now, you can donate online through Gulf Coast Community Foundation's Gulf Coast Gives website. So far the teams raised $550 out of their $1,000 goal.
5. The U.S. Postal Service's annual Stamp Out Hunger campaign returns Saturday. Just collect a brown paper bag full of non-perishible groceries and set it by your mailbox for your mail carrier to pick up.
