Sheriff's Office Seizes 25 Weapons

Convicted felon Glen Connolly, 57, was arrested Wednesday on weapons and drug charges at his McIntosh Road home.

Sarasota Sheriff's investigators arrested a convicted felon Wednesday who had 25 guns in his possession, the sheriff's office announced.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested Glen Connolly, 57, 2932 McIntosh Road, Sarasota, on drug and weapons charges during a home search on Wednesday.

Detectives served a search warrant at Connolly’s home Wednesday and discovered 0.2 grams of  heroin, 24 handguns, a shotgun, several hundred rounds of ammunition and $19,230 in cash, all of which was seized, according to the sheriff's office.

Connolly has previously been convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm in 2001. Before that, he was arrested on drug and weapon charges in 1987, according to the probable cause affidavit.

He was taken into custody and again charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of a Controlled Substance Without a Prescription.

Connolly posted $6,000 bond and was released from the Sarasota County Jail, according to the sheriff's office
