Sixth Annual Chillounge Night Returns To Palm Avenue

Outdoor Sarasota street party features chic club environment with lounge chairs, music and drinks.

Sarasota, it's time to chillax at Chillounge Night.

The sixth annual outdoor party in the street returns to Palm Avenue on Saturday, March 9, starting at  6 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the gate and VIP tickets at $95. Party goers must be 21 years or older. Tickets can be purchased at ChilloungeNight.com.

The party puts comfortable outdoor lounge furniture in the middle of Palm Avenue, creating a chic, upscale party environment, and is the creation of a former Palm Avenue art gallery owner Rainer Scheer.

"I basically bring South Beach and Las Vegas for one night only to a Florida city," Scheer says. "You don't have to drive to Miami that weekend."

Here is what is on tap for Saturday:

  • Fashion Show & Daybed Parade by Ana Molinari
  • Live Music by The Lotus Fire and AJ and The Automatics
  • Cash Cocktail Bars and Food Tents

"The only guarantee is that it's a fun night out," Scheer says. "People love it—the vibe and everything."

Scheer can't control the weather, but the good news is that it promises to warm up by Saturday. The forecast calls for a high of 77 degrees and a low of 53.

He admits that it is a challenge to curate an event in America, hoping for patience each year as it builds while party goers always look for that latest and greatest event, but Chillounge has managed to keep current through the years by bringing a unique experience.

How does a straightforward concept last through six years?

"It's just 680 pillows that drive me," Scheer jokes.
