Suspects In SunTrust Bank Robbery Arrested

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has made two arrests in connection with the  that led to charges to two other bank robberies.

Acting on an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip, detectives determined Matthew Marquez, 30, 2058 17th St., Sarasota, robbed the bank, and that Cara Ruhnke, 28, of the same address, drove him to and from the scene.

Marquez is charged with Armed Robbery and Ruhnke is charged with Accessory to Armed Robbery, according to the sheriff’s office.

Marquez told investigators that the man in the surveillance footage does look similar to him, but denied the bank robbery, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Information gathered during the investigation established probable cause for the Sarasota Police Department to arrest Marquez for the and the on May 23.
