More Than $1.2 Million Spent During Savor Sarasota

Diners spent more than $1.2 million at local restaurants during the 20th annual Savor Sarasota over 20 days earlier this month, according to a news release from Visit Sarasota County.

That amount accounts for just 26 of the participating restaurants that shared their data from the initiative with the tourism organization.

Sixty-two total restaurants offered two-course lunches for just $25 and three-course dinners for $45 during Savor Sarasota.

“This milestone anniversary shows us something we’ve known all along, Sarasota County doesn’t just have great restaurants, we have a community that truly values and supports exceptional dining,” said Erin Duggan, president and CEO of Visit Sarasota County. “Twenty years of Savor Sarasota proves that when you give people quality, they respond enthusiastically.”

Many of the restaurants that participated in the program will continue to offer their specials this summer.

Healthy Eatery Opens in Downtown Bradenton

Clementines, a healthy eatery serving acai bowls, smoothies, breakfast, sandwiches and more has opened in downtown Bradenton at 536 Street W.

“There wasn’t any kind of food like this in the downtown area,” Owner Sky Kirkwood told the Bradenton Herald. “So I wanted to bring a whole new menu to this area.”

Naples Tex-Mex Chain Eyes Sarasota Expansion

The Naples-based chain Tacos & Tequila Cantina are looking to expand into the Sarasota area, the Business Observer reported.

The company’s founder Kelly Musico is partnering with HMC Hospitality Group, the original owners of Hooters, to find potential locations for the brand in Sarasota County.

The Tex-Mex chain has three locations in Naples, one in Fort Myers, a fifth under construction in Cape Coral, and plans to open more throughout West and Central Florida.

Rooftop Restaurant Planned at Bradenton City Hall Site

A mixed-use development planned for the former Bradenton City Hall site will include a rooftop restaurant, the Bradenton Herald reported.

The seven-story, $130 million project will also include 367 apartments and retail space.
