Tampa Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit by Semi-Truck: FL Highway Patrol

A Tampa man on a bicycle died after being hit by a semi-truck on Causeway Boulevard, Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A Tampa bicyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon in a Causeway Boulevard crash with a semi-truck, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The bicyclist, a 43-year-old Tampa man, was heading east on a sidewalk running parallel to Causeway Boulevard, around 4 p.m.

At the same time, the truck, driven by a 44-year-old Boynton Beach man, was heading east on the same road near South 54th Street.

The truck turned right into the path of the bicyclist from a driveway access at 5403 Causeway Blvd., FHP said.

The Tampa man was brought to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
