Teen Arrested For South Sarasota Shooting

A 17-year-old Sarasota teen is facing an attempted murder charge for shooting a man in the leg during a Friday home invasion in south Sarasota.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested Khalin Bryant, 17, in connection with the home invasion and
Detectives determined that Bryant, of 1795 Gregg St., was one of two men that barged into the home and demanded money at gunpoint from two teens who were there.

The incident started when a resident at the home talked to one of the suspects about hanging out at the house, but when they arrived, demanded money and pointed a gun at the victim.
The suspects battered the victims, Kaleb Roark, 18 and Jose Noriega-De Marco, 18, and Bryant shot the father of one of the victims when he entered the room to try to disarm Bryant, according to the sheriff's office.

The father, Carl Roark, 53, had entered Kaleb's bedroom with a wooden stick prepared to fend off one of the attackers, and struck one of the suspects, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Carl Roark was shot in the leg and suffered a broken left arm and elbow from the fall, according to the affidavit.
Carl Roark was treated at the hospital and released.
Bryant had shot a final round that grazed Carl Roark's chest, putting a hole in his shirt and left two large abrasions on Noriega-De Marco's left skull and left forearm and on Kaleb's forehead and behind his head, according to the affidavit
Bryant, whose aliases are listed as "Snap Trap" and "Flame Boy" and "Snack Wrap," is charged with attempted second degree murder, armed burglary and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
He was booked Monday into the Sarasota County Jail and transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice. Bryant was also on probation at the time, according to the affidavit.
Detectives are currently searching for the second suspect, who is described as a 20-year-old tall black male.
