Thief Stole Bolted Down Metal Bench, Cops Say

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Police Department is looking for help identifying a theft suspect officers say was so determined, he even stole a metal bench that was bolted to concrete during a recent crime.

According to the agency, the crime in question occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. Sept. 1 and 9:30 a.m. Sept. 2 outside Awesome Orchids in Sarasota. The thief is accused of taking numerous plants from outside the 330 S. Pineapple Ave. store, along with that metal bench.

The total value of items swiped adds up to about $1,000, an email from police said.
