Man Accused In Theft Of Classic Car Arrested 2 Years Later After Removing Ankle Monitor: Sarasota Police

A man accused in theft of a 1977 Porsche from the now-closed Sarasota Classic Car Museum was arrested again while out on bond, police said.

SARASOTA, FL — A man accused in the theft of a 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo worth $250,000 from the now-permanently closed Sarasota Classic Car Museum in 2023 was arrested Dec. 22 after removing his court-ordered ankle monitor while out on bond, Sarasota police said in a news release.

The Porsche was reported stolen on June 14, 2023. Sarasota detectives, with help from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, eventually found the vehicle with a fraudulent title and tag.

Daniel Boyce, 38, of Sarasota was arrested on July 21, 2023 in connection with the car’s theft for failing to appear in court on a grand theft auto charge, police said.

He was arrested again on Dec. 22, 2025, while out on bond for the 2023 arrest for taking off his court-ordered ankle monitor.

When Boyce removed his ankle monitor, the Sarasota police Real Time Operations Center was alerted. A no-bond warrant was issued and entered into law enforcement systems.

Boyce was found in the Florida Panhandle on Dec. 30 by the Florida Highway Patrol and taken into custody, police said.

Prior to this recent arrest, he faced multiple felony charges in connection with the Porsche theft, investigators said.

He is now also facing additional drug charges related to his arrest by state troopers.

Boyce is currently being held in the Taylor County Jail on no bond for the Sarasota County warrant.
