Try Transit Day Offers Free SCAT Rides
The three new beach routes are the highlights of this year's free public transit day.

SARASOTA, FL – Sarasota County residents and visitors will have a chance to take a free ride all day today.
Friday, April 21 is the annual Try Transit Day, which celebrates public transit and allows people a free chance to try the area’s public transportation methods. While all routs of the Sarasota County Area Transit will be free for the entire day of service, SCAT is highlighting its three new beach routes for people to try:
- Englewood Route 26, from Dearborn Street to Englewood Beach
- Venice Island Loop Route 23 to Venice Beach
- Free Siesta Key Breeze circulator, which can pick up passengers after taking Route 11 from downtown Sarasota to Siesta Key
“Sarasota County residents are enthusiastic about our new beach routes,” said SCAT Director Rocky Burke. “Grab a friend or neighbor and try our buses this Friday. Don’t worry about driving and finding a parking spot; let us take you there.”
