University Parkway Interchange Detours Announced
The Florida Department of Transportation has announced a temporary detour on University Parkway.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Motorists who travel westbound University Parkway in the area of Interstate 75 may want to take note of an upcoming temporary lane closure.
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the westbound lanes of University Parkway will be closed under I-75 at the University Parkway Interchange during the nighttime hours of Wednesday and Thursday. The closing will take place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. both nights, Jan. 18 and Jan. 19, so crews can install drainage pipes. All ramps will be open.

- For motorists traveling westbound on University Parkway (east of I-75), wishing to travel west through the interchange: Travel north on I-75, exit at westbound State Road 70, enter southbound I-75 and exit at University Parkway.
- For motorists traveling north on I-75 planning to travel west on University Parkway through the interchange: Exit westbound on State Road 70, north of the closure, enter southbound I-75 and exit at University Parkway.
The improvements are part of the ongoing construction of a diverging diamond interchange. The project will add an auxiliary lane on both north- and southbound I-75 in addition to new bridges over University Parkway, among other enhancements. The anticipated completion is fall 2017.
