Man Injured At Baby Shower Shooting Is Identified: Sheriff

SARASOTA, FL — Deputies have identified a 29-year-old man shot outside a Sarasota home where a baby shower was being held Saturday night. The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is still searching for two suspects.

Jamal Laurie Edwards of Parrish was shot multiple times and transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital as a trauma alert, deputies said. His current condition is unknown. Deputies said the suspects were wearing masks and hoodies.

The shooting occurred as Parrish walked outside the home where the baby shower was being held. He approached the suspects and multiple shots were fired, hitting him and the home, deputies said. No one else was injured. The shootings occurred in the 4400 block of Caicos Court near Wilkinson Road. The suspects fled on foot.

Deputies described the shooting as an isolated incident.
