Water Main Break Closes Beneva Road

About 420 residents and businesses are without water near the Sarasota Square Mall due to the break. Traffic is being detoured.

A water main break Sunday morning has closed Beneva Road from Sarasota Square Boulevard to U.S. 41, according to Sarasota County Utilities.

About 420 residents and businesses had water service restored after hours of work and are under a precautionary boil advisory.

The road is expected to remain close through Thursday. Traffic is being detoured south on Sarasota Square Boulevard.

Among those affected were:

• The Springs at Lake Pointe Woods nursing home;

• the Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods retirement community, includung the Inn assisted living facilty;

• residents of the Pine Tree Acres neighborhood and a number of businesses.
