Update: Portion Of Beneva Road Reopens

Sarasota County Utilities crews worked to repair a 12-inch transmission water main break that has closed a portion of Beneva Road south of Markridge Road in Sarasota, according to Sarasota County Government.

Update Thursday, May 31 4:04 p.m.: 

A section of Beneva Road from Markridge Road to Beneva Oaks Road in Sarasota has reopened in all directions, following repairs to a water main. The water main break occurred Memorial Day afternoon. Traffic is now open in all lanes, both northbound and southbound.

A water main break on Beneva Road is causing road closures today and will continue through Thursday.

Sarasota County Utilities crews are working to repair a 12-inch transmission water main break that has closed a portion of Beneva Road south of Markridge Road in Sarasota, according to Sarasota County Government.

Southbound traffic on Beneva is completely closed at Markridge Road to Beneva Oaks Road.

The has closed both southbound lanes.

Northbound Beneva Road will be converted to two one-way lanes to accommodate southbound traffic, according to the country. 

This road closure will continue through the end of Thursday while repairs are made to the water main and to the road.

At this time, utilities crew have not yet determined if water service has been interrupted or if a precautionary boil water notice will be issued, according to the county.
