Water Quality Advisory Issued For Sarasota Beach: FL DOH

High levels of enterococcus bacteria were found in water samples taken at a a Sarasota beach, the Florida Department of Health said.

SARASOTA, FL — A water quality advisory has been issued for Bird Key Park/Ringling Bridge Causeway Park, according to a news release from the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County.

High levels of enterococcus bacteria were found in water samples taken June 12.

Based on the results, the water quality at Bird Key Park/Ringling Bridge Causeway Park doesn’t meet the state’s recreational water quality standards, FDOH said.

The department advises against any water-related activities at this beach as there’s an increased risk of illness to swimmers.

The advisory will remain in place until the bacterial content in the beach waters returns to acceptable levels, the agency said.
