VENICE, FL — A water quality advisory has been issued for a Sarasota County beach and park, according to a news release from the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County.

High levels of enterococcus bacteria were found in water samples taken Monday at Brohard Beach and Paw Park, both at 1850 Harbor Drive S. in Venice.

The water samples don’t meet the recreational water quality criteria recommended by the FDOH.

Beach-goers should avoid water-related activities at this location because of an increased risk of illness to swimmers, the agency said.

The advisory will continue until bacteria levels are below the state’s accepted health level. Test results are available at FloridaHealth.gov/HealthyBeaches.
