Weekend Things: Floral Shows Abound
Ringling in Bloom and Selby Gardens' Plant and Garden Festival is this Weekend

1. Must be the time to be flowery in Sarasota. Both the Ringling in Bloom festival showcasing floral desgins and art and the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens Plant and Garden Festival are this weekend. Click the links to find out more about times and prices.
2. The Downtown Sarasota Alliance recently expanded First Fridays to all Fridays and this week's installment heads to the Rosemary District where shops will be open and merchants and restaurants will offer specials, and there's entertainment in store, too.
3. Take the kids to some Dr. Seuss story time at Target on Saturday. It happens 9 to 11 a.m. that day at all Target stores. The in-store reading event celebrates the National Education Association’s (NEA’s) Read Across America program. Each event will include a reading nook inspired by Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax,” a reusable Target bag filled with activities for children, readings by Target team members, and more.

4. The rest of the Baltimore Orioles are back in town today at Ed Smith Stadium and will report for their first workouts Friday. Workouts will last from 9:15 a.m. to about 12:30 p.m. Practices and workouts are free and open to the public.
5. This is the opening weekend for The Robbers at Asolo Rep's Cook Theatre.

The Robbers features two brothers wage war against each other for power and the love of their father. It runs about 155 minutes long.
Tickets are $28 evenings; $27 matinees. Students receive 50 percent off with advance ticket purchase. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Asolo Rep’s box office at the FSU Center for Performing Arts; 941-351-8000.
