Weekend Things: SNL Alum Kevin Nealon At McCurdy's
Saturday Night Live alumnus and regular on "Weeds" actor Kevin Nealon will perform his stand-up routine at McCurdy's Comedy Theater on Saturday.
1. Saturday Night Live alumnus Kevin Nealon will perform at Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Nealon is a regular on Showtime's Weeds as Doug Wilson and has a Showtime stand-up special Now Hear Me Out. He is also the voice of Glenn Martin, DDS on Nick at Nite. Tickets start at $29.
2. Either run with them or away from them. Hundreds of triathletes will descend upon Siesta Key this weekend for the Florida International Triathlon. Racers will arrive in town Friday to pick up their packets for the Saturday race. The first event is scheduled to start at 7 a.m. Cheer these athletes on, volunteer, or plan on an alternate route Saturday morning.
3. If you like a triatholon-type competition with a touch of crazy, head over to the Celery Fields for the Sarasota Dirty Duo where racersm in teams of two, crawl through tunnels, mud, have a tire run, fip, roll and pull and carry their teammate on their back for 100 yards, then at another point one teammate bikes and there's a giant slide with dish soap. Sounds awesome, right? It's set for Sunday with the adult race starting at 8 a.m., Dirty Kids (6 to 13 years old) at 10 a.m. and a post-race awards and party at 10:15 a.m. Register before Sunday and it's $80 for a team, $40 solo. Day of race is $110 for a team, $55 solo. Kids participating in the Dirty Kids race are free, but must have a waiver signed. 4. Sing along to some favorite movie tunes at cabaret produciton of , developed by artistic director Richard Hopkins, Rebecca Hopkins and Jim Prosser. Songs include "Moon River," "Toot-Toot-Tootsie," "Fame," "Flashdance," "As Time Goes By," and "The Way We Were." Shows at the Goldstein Cabaret. 5. Chef Jamie Oliver's Global Food Revolution Day will take over Sarasota Saturday at and at the . For $10, kids from 4 to 8 years old can register for a Farmers Market Fun for Kids session with Food Revolution ambassador Renu Daga where kids will taste fresh juice, watch a food prep demonstration, learn about real food and how it’s grown and finish the tour with a treat. Reusuable shopping bags will be provided. Ticket includes admission for the parents, which at least one parent must be present with the child. Register now to guarantee a spot.
