Weekend Things: Southeast Youth Championship Regatta
Teams from seven states will compete at Nathan Benderson Park on Saturday to qualify for the national championships.

1. Cheer on some of the region's best rowers at the starting at 8 a.m. Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park. Event admission is free, but parking is $5. Teams from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee compete for qualification to attend the US Rowing Youth National Championship Regatta. Entrance for the park is at 2500 N. Honore Ave.
2. The third annual Harvey Milk Festival runs Thursday through Saturday at Five Points Park and other venues throughout the city. The festival's highlight tonight is at the with a screening of the music documentary, Hit So Hard: The Life and Near Death Story of Patty Schemel, who is the former drummer for the band Hole. Following the screening, a reception for the film will take place at .
3. Sing along to some favorite movie tunes at cabaret produciton of Reel Music, developed by artistic director Richard Hopkins, Rebecca Hopkins and Jim Prosser. Songs include "Moon River," "Toot-Toot-Tootsie," "Fame," "Flashdance," "As Time Goes By," and "The Way We Were." Shows at the Goldstein Cabaret. 4. The Burns Square Art Walk returns Friday from 5 to 10 p.m. in the Burns Square Historic District. Bands and DJs include Tosspot, DJ Cub, Dylan Jon Wade, Ann & Diedre and DJ Aerial Sonata.
5. Get to know one of the groups who helped rescued some of the this weekend. at the , 131 N. Cattleman Road, at 11 a.m. Saturday. There will be adoptable dogs at the Canine Cruiser with many of the organizations' current Castaways. Adoptions require a completed application, home visit and reference check; therefore no dogs are adopted from events unless pre-approved.
