Fringe Performing Arts Fest More Accessible this June
Rain or shine the Fringe is fine, because it's all in one spot this year!

The Tampa International Fringe Festival returns this June to Ybor, and they are preparing for the weather.
“We’ve got to embrace it. So we’re selling umbrellas!” says Festival Director, William Glenn.

“Joking aside, all of our venues are in one ADA building on 7th Ave this year, making the festival more accessible than ever before. Plus, we’re surrounded by plenty to eat and drink within a few blocks, making it an easy way to spend a day out, without having to worry about the elements.”

They have chosen to have this year’s festival right at the start of hurricane season (June 5-16), but they won’t be deterred - even slapping the slogan “I’m Only Happy When it’s Fringe” on the 8th year, an homage to ‘90s band grunge rock music.

“What we’re most excited about this year is our new venue - with a balcony right on 7th!” says Glenn. The Fringe’s newest venue is in the West wing of the new Kress Contemporary. One of the hottest spots for art in Ybor, the Kress Contemporary houses numerous artists, galleries, and more - Tempus Projects, House of Shadows, Pop Yarn, Chase Parker, Shades of Grey, to name a few.

This year’s Fringe Festival features 30 companies performing a range of shows. There’s a family friendly magic show all the way from Canada, a contemporary dance show where the dancer is painting while dancing from local company Break the Mould, multiple stand-up comedy shows from near and far, as well as issue driven hard hitting drama. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Every year, the Tampa Fringe fosters a strong sense of community among artists and audiences alike. The festival encourages interaction and engagement, with opportunities for attendees to meet the artists, participate in discussions, and connect with fellow arts enthusiasts.
