Head to Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe for Mother's Day Meal, Entertainment

This Sunday, May 12, will feature the music of Rebekah Pulley & the Reluctant Prophets.

Looking for a great place to take Mom this Sunday, May 12 for a Mother's Day treat?

Head on over to Ella's Americana Folk Art Cafe, 5119 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa, for Soul Food Sunday featuring entertainment by Rebekah Pulley & the Reluctant Prophets from 4 to 7 p.m.

Pulley was raised in a musical household with her nine siblings in rural Alaska. A self-taught guitarist, she gained an ear for music by listening to her father practice and perform his pre-rockabilly style with country greats such as Charlie Ryan with whom he recorded the original version of Hot Rod Lincoln.

At a young age, Pulley moved to St Petersburg and worked odd jobs, spending her free time writing songs. Eventually, she built up the courage to perform at some of the local open mic nights, which over time, led to her now full-time career in music.

Since then, she has recorded five full-length CDs that have won fans and acclaim across the country.

While listening to Pulley and her band perform, Mom can enjoy a soulful meal of fried chicken and waffles, fried catfish, a blackened fish burger and soul food sides such as collard greens, okra succotash, fried pickles, fried green tomatoes and sweet potato fries.

Don't forget to order Mom a Key lime martini and a dessert of chocolate-covered bacon.
