St. Joseph's Hospital Gives Patients a Prom of Their Own
More than 50 patients dressed up and took part in an Arabian Nights-themed prom.

Despite being hospitalized, more than 50 pediatric patients at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Tampa were able to attend prom, thanks to child life specialists at the hospital.
Dressed in evening gowns and tuxes, the patients took part in an Arabian Nights-themed prom at the hospital May 3 that included music, dancing, refreshments and keepsake photos.
"For some seriously ill pediatric patients, this prom may have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Kelly Outlaw, child life supervisor at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital. “We think it’s a night that every child should have, no matter how sick, which is why we gave all of our patients a chance to go to prom now.”
