• Stormwater, budget and spiffing up Siesta Key named county priorities (yourobserver.com) — Sarasota County commissioners have named Siesta Key beautification, funding, and maintenance as a top priority for their 2026 agenda, alongside regional stormwater and transportation planning. At their Dec. 12 retreat, they also set the stage for formal adoption of these goals in January and selected Ron Cutsinger as 2026 chair and Mark Smith, a Siesta Key–connected commissioner, as vice chair.

- My husband found this Sulcata tortoise on Roberts Point Road yesterday evening 12/13/25 at around 5:15pm.
He weighs 30 lbs. The tracking device on his back is just an AirTag case that broke. There’s no AirTag with it. Praying we can find his owner! (Nextdoor Somerset Cove)
