1 Seriously Injured In Shooting Near Airport: Tampa Police
Detectives are looking for the suspect in a shooting that happened Friday afternoon near the Tampa International Airport, police said.
TAMPA, FL — One person was seriously injured in a shooting near Tampa International Airport Friday, according to a Tampa Police Department news release.
The shooting happened on a sidewalk near the intersection of North O’Brien Street and West Spruce Street just after noon.
Two men were “in a heated dispute” before the argument “escalated to gunfire,” police said.

The suspect is a Black man with long dreads who was wearing a black beanie and black jacket and was pulling a roller bag, TPD said.
The victim, a Hispanic man in his late 40s, was brought to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdominal area. He is in serious condition and being treated for his injuries.

While the shooting didn’t happen on airport property, Tampa International Airport police helped with the initial response to the incident and with traffic control
Tampa police detectives are working to investigate the shooting and find the suspect.
