$150K Marijuana Operation Found in Garage, Guest Room: Hillsborough Deputies

Rooms had been "converted for the sole purpose of cultivating marijuana," according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A man is facing marijuana trafficking and other charges after a large grow operation was found in his garage and guest bedroom, according to a release from Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office on Monday morning.

Angel Azcuy Merceron, 65, of 4515 Lambright Street W., is charged with marijuana trafficking, possession with intent to sell, grand theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

On Friday, investigators searched Merceron's home, reportedly found the rooms "had been converted for the sole purpose of cultivating marijuana," according to the HCSO report.

There were 20 adult marijuana plants and 12 juvenile marijuana clones in the home. The marijuana weighed 74.75 pounds and had a street value of $149,500, according to deputies.

Crew from the Tampa Electric Company also responded to the home, finding the home had an illegal connection for un-metered electricity, worth $2,800.
