17-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed In Crash: Police
The driver who struck the boy was a 17-year-old girl, police said.
GREATER NORTHDALE, FL — A 17-year-old bicyclist from Tampa died after he was struck over the weekend by a 17-year-old driver, also from Tampa, according to police.
The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday in Greater Northdale, police said. A teen girl in a Honda Accord was driving south on Dale Mabry Highway behind a Mazda CX-5 driven by a 60-year-old Tampa woman when the bicyclist tried to cross the highway against the traffic signal at Mapledale Boulevard and was struck by the Honda, which also rear-ended the Mazda, according to police.
The boy was taken to a hospital and later died, police said.
