Teen Club Deaths: Guns Found In Vehicle Of Man, 15-Year-Old Girl

Authorities say security guards saw someone firing a weapon from a car outside the Hillsborough teen club and they both returned fire

UPDATE: Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives discovered two handguns inside the vehicle where Jyhaad D. Grant, 25, and 15-year-old Julissa D. Jackson died after being shot by security guards outside a teen club Monday night. Preliminary evidence suggests both handguns were fired at the scene. The security guards said someone in the vehicle was firing a weapon before they returned gunfire. A 9 mm pistol and a .380 caliber handgun were discovered in the vehicle after detectives executed a search warrant. The vehicle was impounded for evidence processing and the investigation continues. No charges are pending at this time, deputies said.

TAMPA, FL - A 15-year-old girl and a 25-year-old man were shot and killed by security guards outside a teen club at 5809 North 50th St. on Monday night, Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said. Authorities said the security guards feared for their lives when they saw someone firing a weapon from a car and they both returned fire. The bodies of 15-year-old Julissa D. Jackson, and 25-year-old Jyhaad D. Grant, both of Tampa, were found inside the vehicle.

The incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. at a storage building known as "The Club," which was being rented for a teen night. A series of fights inside the event prompted organizers to close their doors early around 10:45 p.m. The event had been scheduled to end at midnight. Between 150 to 200 people were in the process of leaving the event when the armed security guards first heard fireworks and then gunshots.

While looking into where the gunshots were coming from, the security guards saw a weapon being fired from a car and they returned fire, deputies said.

The security guards involved in the shooting were identified as Keyon Williams, 28, and Connor Harm, 18. Both are licensed security guards with licenses to carry firearms, authorities said. Both men work for A.J. Cardinal Group, doing business as Eagle One Security Force, located at 8810 N. Orangeview Ave. in Tampa. No charges are pending at this time, authorities said.

The 15-year-old girl was the mother of a 2-month-old son. Elease Moore, her grandmother, said she begged Jackson not to go to the teen club. “I was begging her not to go. I told her, I said, 'you can't go to every party they have,' " Moore said.

Most of the crowd had left the scene by the time deputies arrived. Anyone with any information in reference this the incident is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
