3-Time Felon Accused Of Making Meth Near FL Middle School

TAMPA, FL — Edward Royse, 31, a three-time convicted felon, was arrested and accused of making methamphetamine and dimethyltryptamine in an apartment near a Tampa-area middle school, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Detectives who searched the apartment on Belmere Parkway on Friday found a variety of illegal narcotics, weapons and evidence of an active drug-manufacturing setup.

Deputies found methamphetamine, MDMA, LSD, ketamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and alprazolam, as well as two guns and $4,100 in cash in the apartment, which is within 1,000 feet of Ben Hill Middle School, the sheriff’s office said.

A second suspect, 53-year-old Rosa Silva, was also at the apartment and was found to have methamphetamine, MDMA, ketamine, cannabis, and sativa resin.

Royse was charged with manufacture of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver within 1,000 feet of a school, four counts of felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, three counts of armed trafficking in illegal drugs 28 grams to 30 kilograms, armed trafficking in LSD (7 grams or more), armed trafficking in fentanyl (4 to 14 grams), keeping public nuisance structure for drug activity, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver, possession of drug without prescription, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Silva was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver (methamphetamine), two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis less than 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cannabis sativa resin.
