2 Crashes Caused I-275 Lane Closing

Two Sunday afternoon crashes involving a total of eight vehicles forced the closing of some northbound I-275 lanes.

TAMPA, FL — Update: The Florida Highway Patrol says all northbound lanes of Interstate 275 are open. Further information about the two crashes that forced the closing near Sligh Avenue Sunday afternoon is not yet available.

Earlier: The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating two crashes involving a total of eight vehicles on Interstate 275. As the investigations continue, the patrol is advising that all but one lane in the northbound direction is closed at Sligh Avenue.

According to the patrol, motorists should expect delays or find different northbound routes. While the inside lane remains open, troopers are diverting all other northbound traffic off the interstate onto Sligh Avenue.

Few details about the crashes are available at this time, but Sgt. Steve Gaskins said the only injuries reported so far are minor. "Crews are currently working to open the roadway as soon as possible," he added.
