  1. Florida seeks to require high school athletes to submit their menstrual period information to the the state, creating data privacy concerns for parents. Florida High School Athletic Association will address the issue in the next few weeks, impacting locals in Tampa Bay as well. A decision is expected by the end of the month by the board, which is comprised of 14 men and two women. (Bay News 9)
  2. The Tampa Bay Community Action Committee gathered in downtown Tampa this weekend after the tragic death of Tyre Nichols. Organizers said the gathering was meant as a day of remembrance and a call to action for the community. Activists called for the Tampa City Council to bring an independent board over the Tampa Police Department (TPD). (ABC Action News)

Hillsborough County Public Schools is facing scrutiny by Florida state officials over a challenge at Pierce Middle School over a book called "This Book Is Gay," which state officials have labeled "obscene." Hillsborough County Superintendent Addison Davis said the district is working to address the concerns of Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, an elected Republican from Palm Coast.
