Breaking: Amalie Arena is gearing up for the Tampa Bay Lightning to hit the ice once more.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay Lightning fans eager to see the hometown team in action once more don’t have much longer to wait. Proving that point, Amalie Arena has announced that home ice installation is set for Monday, Sept. 12.
The process will begin bright and early at 7 a.m. when staff will lay down a base coast of water, according to an email from the arena. After that, the ice will be painted the base color white around 10 a.m. The final lines should go into place around noon.
The Lightning’s first pre-season game is set for Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Amalie Arena. The team will face off against the Carolina Hurricanes. The remaining pre-season games are as follows:

- Thursday, Sept. 29 against the Florida Panthers at 7:30 p.m. at home
- Friday, Sept. 30 against the Carolina Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. at Carolina
- Saturday, Oct. 1 against the Nashville Predators at 8 p.m. at Nashville
- Thursday, Oct. 6 against the Florida Panthers at 7:30 p.m. in Miami
- Saturday, Oct. 8 against the Nashville Predators at 7 p.m. at home
The Lightning play their first regular season game on Thursday, Oct. 13 against the Detroit Red Wings in Tampa. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
