Arrest Made Weeks After Deadly Shooting Of Teen: Hillsborough County Sheriff

An 18-year-old was arrested in the October fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

TAMPA, FL — An arrest was made weeks after the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in the Tampa area, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Cordaryl Johnson, 18, was arrested Thursday morning for the murder of Trevaun Johnson in October, the agency said.

Cordaryl was charged with murder in the second degree with a weapon by a person other than person engaged in a robbery, armed burglary of a conveyance with assault or battery, and robbery with a firearm, records show.

After getting a 911 call about a shooting in the 10000 block of Country Hollow Drive on Oct. 21 at 9:30 p.m., deputies found a male, later identified as Trevaun, with upper body trauma, HCSO said.

Two other people were also injured in the incident and went to local hospitals with gunshot wounds for treatment, Patch previously reported.

"For months, an entire community has lived in fear as a senseless act of violence stole a life and shattered their peace," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "By making this arrest, our detectives have restored a sense of safety that this neighborhood deserved."
