1. Tampa Bay Breweries will battle for best chili honors at the fourth annual Battle of the Breweries Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, February 6th from noon to 5 p.m. The event will take place at the Stadium, 2349 Seven Springs Blvd., New Port Richey. (Tampa Patch)
2. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion will be screened on the lawn at Sparkman Wharf as part of Joyful Notion’s Galentine’s Day event on Monday, February 14th at 6:30 p.m. Joyful Notion will also host a floral workshop at the event. (That's So Tampa)
3. An $18 million renovation and expansion of Fair Oaks Park in East Tampa rested on the city acquiring a convenience store and parking lot on 34th Street and its 1.8 acres. Attempts to purchase the property failed and the city withdrew on Monday, delaying the project for now. (Tampa Bay Times)
4. The glove that former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Antonio Brown angrily tossed into the crowd after quitting the team is now for sale. Lelands Sports Memorabilia and Card Auctions listed the item with an opening bid of $81 Sunday, and the price has now gone up to at least $3,045. The auction closes February 12th at 10 p.m. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
5. Tampa Bay home buyers and renters are competing with corporations for real estate access in a tight market. Local resident Traci Sampson sold her Sarasota home at premium and then struggled to find a home in Tampa to live in with hundreds of people and corporations competing against her for rentals. Sampson ended up renting a home from Home Partners of America in Chicago, which owns and rents over 600 homes in Tampa. (WTSP)
