Berkeley Prep Pipe And Drum Corps To March In South Boston’s 2017 St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The Tampa school's band is the only one outside of Boston to participate in the celebration.
TAMPA, FL – While Tampa and Boston may be separated by 1,300 miles, the Berkeley Prep Pipe and Drum Corps will be right at home this weekend in Massachusetts.
Once again, Berkeley Prep will be the only school from outside of Boston to perform in the 2017 South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year, the parade is scheduled take place on Sunday, March 19 at 1 p.m. The prestigious parade loops for 7 miles around South Boston, home of the city’s largest Irish heritage population.
Berkeley Prep’s Pipe and Drum Corps was founded by music teacher Patrick Fisher in 1996. In 2005, the corps led the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade and appeared on the cover of the Boston Globe.

The 15 students in the Berkeley Prep Pipe and Drum Corps will don blue tartan kilts with Scottish military jackets and tall socks with red flashes. The group is sponsored by the local Irish sector, Castle Island.
