Best States To Live In 2025: FL Ranked On New Survey

A state known for its cuisine and entertainment, Florida is ranked among the best states to live in, per analysts.

Thanks to its plentiful beaches, pleasant climate, myriad sites for entertainment, nature exploration and strong business climate, Florida is one of the best states to live in, according to a new survey.

The Sunshine State came in sixth on the nationwide list released Monday. Minnesota, New Jersey and Idaho outperformed Florida.

WalletHub analyzed the cost of living, job opportunities, quality of education and safety when ranking all 50 states. Experts said Florida has an overall score of 58.51.

“When deciding on a place to move, you should first consider financial factors like the cost of living, housing prices and job availability," WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in a news release. "Many states have strong economies, though, so you should also consider a wide variety of other factors, such as how where you live will impact your health and safety, and whether you will have adequate access to activities that you enjoy. If you have children, a robust education system is also key.”

New Mexico received the lowest ranking on the list, making it the worst state to live in, per WalletHub.

According to WalletHub, the Sunshine State has one of the highest housing costs, restaurants per capita and income growth opportunities.

In May, U.S. News and World Report also deemed Florida the sixth-best state, citing its ability to meet diverse needs.

Florida hosts a variety of well-known attractions for tourists, including the Walt Disney World and Universal Studios resorts in Orlando.

Other attractions include historic downtown Venice, ZooTampa in Tampa, the Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium in Orlando, the Gulf World Marine Park in Panama City Beach, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Merritt Island and Adventure Island, Busch Gardens' Waterpark in Tampa.

Florida is home to the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Florida Marlins, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Foodies can indulge in Florida as it offers award-winning barbecue and some of best hotel restaurants in the U.S.
