Bicyclist Killed When He Veered Into Traffic On Water Street In Tampa

Police attempted to save the man's life but he died from his injuries.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa police responded to a traffic fatality in the 2100 block of West Waters Avenue at 5:46 a.m. Thursday.

A bicyclist, man in his early 40s, was traveling on the sidewalk on the north side of the road when he veered into a traffic lane in the roadway. The cyclist was struck by a white Nissan pickup truck that was traveling west and was knocked off his bicycle.

Officers attempted life-saving measures but the cyclist died due to his injuries.

The driver of the Nissan remained on the scene and cooperated with police.

Traffic along West Waters Avenue was closed for about three hours during the investigation.
