Here are the top five stories today in Tampa:

1. The Tampa Gun Show proceeded as planned over the weekend at the Florida State Fairgrounds, despite calls for gun reform across the nation after recent mass shootings. Gun owners at the fairgrounds said lawmakers should turn to mental health, lack of parental oversight or school security as causes for the mass shootings, instead of gun control. (WTSP)

2. St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch recently slammed politicians who make life more difficult for LGBTQ people, including Florida's so-called "Don't Say Gay" bill and "Stop WOKE" bill. He told WMNF, "... in a city like St. Petersburg, we have to have a foundation that’s based upon an understanding of our true history. Think about Tropicana Field. It's not just a blank slate. There’s a history of what happened there. It was a community that existed there before that." (WMNF)

3. Boom by the Bay is returning to Tampa on Independence Day. Festivities will run along the Tampa Riverwalk, with Armature Works in Tampa Heights recently announcing a planned stage with live music, Kids Zone, art auction, waterfront views for fireworks and more. (That's So Tampa)

4. A former Ruskin neighborhood ice cream man accused in a deadly shooting spree will head back to trial in October after the first case ended in a mistrial. Michael Keetley's trial is set for October 10 and is expected to last three weeks. (Fox 13)

5. The Tampa Bay Rays held their 16th Pride Night celebration on Saturday at Tropicana Field. Most players participated in the event. Rays president Matt Silverman said, "By doing this, we extend an invitation not just for this game but for all of our games that the LGBTQ+ community is invited, welcomed and celebrated."
