Breezy, Slightly Cooler Weather In Tampa Bay’s Forecast

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay residents hoping for a break from 90-degree days may be in luck over the next week. Forecasters at the National Weather Service say the region is in for a string of breezy days with highs in the upper 80s. Rain chances are also in the cards over the week, adding to river flooding concerns in some areas.
Monday is expected to kick things off with a high in the mid-to upper 80s in much of the region. There’s a 30 percent chance for scattered showers as the day continues with breezy conditions and wind gusts up to 23 mph possible. Mostly cloudy conditions with a low in the lower 70s are expected in the overnight hours Monday. Tuesday is expected to kick off with partly sunny conditions and a high that will rise into the upper 80s. Forecasters say rain chances increase heading into the afternoon hours. Thunderstorms are also possible in some parts of the region. Breezy conditions are expected with wind gusts of up to 25 mph possible. Rain chances continue into the overnight hours with a low in the lower 70s anticipated.

Wednesday is expected to be the windiest of the week. While the day is expected to kick off with partly sunny conditions, isolated storm and shower chances move in during the afternoon hours. Forecasters say wind gusts could reach 28 mph in some areas while the high is expected to reach the upper 80s. Isolated showers, a continued breeze and a low in the mid-70s are forecast for the overnight hours.
Forecasters say partly sunny skies and a high in the mid- to upper-80s are likely on Thursday. Wind gusts up to 23 mph are possible with a 20 percent chance of rain in the afternoon hours forecast. Storm chances may linger into the overnight hours with a low in the lower 70s expected.

Friday is expected to deliver mostly cloudy conditions in the daytime hours with a 40 percent chance of rain. The day’s high is anticipated to climb into the upper 80s. Gusty conditions are expected to come to an end by Friday when an east wind around 9 mph is forecast. Rain chances linger heading into the overnight hours when the low is expected to drop into the low 70s yet again.
While organized, severe weather isn’t in the forecast, the weather service warns that river flooding remains a concern in some areas. Residents who live along rivers and fast-moving streams are urged to remain watchful of water levels.
