1. The Hillsborough County Buccaneers Wheelchair Football Team is hosting open tryouts today for its 2022 team that will be one of nine national teams competing in the USA Wheelchair Football League (USAWFL) this upcoming season, a news release said. Tryouts will also occur on Saturday, May 7. Both will occur from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lesley "Les" Miller, Jr. All People's Community Park and Life Center. (Tampa Patch)

2. Tampa Electric Co. (TECO) notified state regulators Thursday it is facing higher-than-expected fuel costs, though it did not file a proposal to quickly pass along the costs to customers as in the past. Each year, the Florida Public Service Commission sets the amounts that utilities can collect for power-plant fuel in the following year. Normally a notification is followed by a rate-hike on customers. (Creative Loafing Tampa)

3. Wulfaven Brewing Co. is a new microbrewery planned to open in Tampa's Carrollwood neighborhood this summer, as Tampa's local beer scene continues to grow. The mission of Wulfaven is "create quality craft beer with fresh ingredients and create an inclusive space the community to gather." (That's So Tampa)

4. The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights plans to investigate Hillsborough County Public Schools over the district's handling of sexual harassment, federal officials said this week. The investigation comes after an investigation by the Tampa Bay Times into Plant City High School. (Subscription: Tampa Bay Times)

5. The White House announced Friday, it will welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning, a back-to-back Stanley Cup champion-winning team, to the White House on Monday, April 25. U.S. President Joe Biden will join the team to celebrate their back-to-back victories. (WFLA)
