FLORIDA — Among this week's top headlines, the LGBTQ community is grappling with the ramifications of the passage of the new Florida law known as the "Protecting Children's Innocence" law, which bans children from attending drag shows. And Gov. Ron DeSantis appears ready to formally declare he's running for president next week.

In Orlando, a nonprofit organization said bakery staff at a Publix store refused to write "trans" on a cake they ordered for an event. Meanwhile, residents are calling for a fifth-grade teacher to be fired after showing students an animated Disney film featuring a gay character, a toddler left in a hot car for 14 hours died, and Orlando police are investigating the hacking of a digital traffic sign to read: “Kill All Gays."
