Tampa Police Arrest 4 Suspects In Ybor City Carjacking

About 8:15 p.m. Friday, officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of 46th Street and 26th Avenue.

TAMPA, FL - Tampa police have arrested four suspects who allegedly stole a man's car and cash as he stopped for coffee outside a Ybor City coffee shop Friday morning, according to police. The four men were arrested after a short pursuit Friday night in the stolen 2010 silver Toyota Corolla. Police have not identified the suspects.

About 8:15 p.m. Friday, officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of 46th Street and 26th Avenue. The suspects fled the scene, bailing out of the vehicle near the 3600 block of Garrison Street, police said. Officers quickly established a perimeter, boxing the suspects in. With the assistance of a police helicopter and canine units on the ground, officers were able to apprehend the four suspects by 8:42 p.m.

The four men have been transported to the district office where detectives will continue the investigation.

The carjacking took place outside the Ybor Coffee Shop, 3401 N 15th St., about 5:45 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19. The armed men approached the victim while he was sitting in his car. They struck the male victim in the head with a gun before fleeing the scene with his cash and his car, police said.
