Charlie Daniels Announces Tampa Benefit Jam Session

The annual Charlie Daniels Jam Session to benefit The Angelus takes place Friday at the Hard Rock Café Tampa.

TAMPA, FL — Charlie Daniels fans who want to hear the southern legend’s music live will get their chance this Friday. The Hard Rock Café has announced it will serve as the location for the musician’s annual “jam session” to benefit The Angeles.

The annual benefit concert provides funding for the Hudson-based nonprofit that provides a home and programs for severely handicapped people. The Angelus was originally found in St. Petersburg in 1979 and soon found itself home to eight children, ranging from age 2 to 12. Through the years, the home grew and the need for a new location became evident. The move to Pasco began in 1986 after 17 acres of wooded land was purchased to accommodate residents. Today, The Angelus provides residential care, a day program and respite care.

Charlie Daniels Jam Session is set to take place at the Hard Rock Café in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa starting at 9 p.m. Dec. 2. Entry to the event is a $10 donation at the door. “It will be standing room only for those 21 years of age and older,” the Hard Rock announced in a media release.

Daniels will be joined on stage by Confederate Railroad and Craig Wayne Boyd, the café noted. Daniels is famed for such songs as “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” “Long Haired Country Boy,” and “Drinkin’ My Baby Goodbye.”

In addition to the jam session, the casino is also hosting blackjack and slots tournaments to support The Angelus. The blackjack tournament starts at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 and has a $150 buy-in. The slots tournament is set for 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 2 and has a $10 buy-in. Seats for both tournaments will be available in the Rock Shop.
