What’s Open, Closed For New Year’s Day 2026 In Tampa

Here are some closures and schedule changes for some Tampa government offices, facilities and services on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

TAMPA, FL — With many Tampa residents celebrating New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, here are some closures and schedule changes affecting government offices, facilities and services over the holiday.

Tampa City Hall, Municipal Service Centers and Other Government Facilities: Closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Tampa Solid Waste and Recycling Collection: There will be no residential or commercial collection on Thursday. Normal residential collection will resume Friday. Thursday’s regularly scheduled commercial collection will take place on Friday and Friday’s collection will take place Saturday.

McKay Bay Transfer Station and Scale House: Will close at noon on Wednesday and remain closed Thursday. Normal hours resume on Friday.

Christmas Tree Collection: Curbside Christmas tree collection for Tampa residents will begin on Friday.

Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries: All locations are open until 6 p.m. on Wednesday and closed Thursday.

Hillsborough County Public Schools and District Offices: Schools closed through Jan. 4. Staff returns to schools on Monday and students return to the classroom on Tuesday.

HART: Buses and streetcars will operate on a holiday schedule, which is the same as Sunday, on Thursday. The paratransit service is offered as needed.
